The Department of Computing and Decision Sciences (http://www.ln.edu.hk/cds) is one of five departments in the Faculty of Business contributing to the undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration program. Business (Hons). The department hosts the LEO Dr. David P. Chan Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science program and runs the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics program as well as the Master of Science in E-Business and Management program of the supply chain. The Department invites applications for research position in the areas of (i) Data Science, (ii) Artificial Intelligence, (iii) Deep Learning, (iv) Scalable Deep Reinforcement Learning, (v) Natural Language Processing and (vi) Big Data Analytics.

The main responsibilities of the position are to: i) apply for internal and external research grants; ii) conduct original research and publish articles in high quality journals; iii) perform teaching duties at the undergraduate level (preferably in data science, artificial intelligence, mathematics or statistics); and iv) complete projects for the LEO Dr. David P. Chan Institute of Data Science. The appointee should have good communication and presentation skills in English.

General requirements

Lingnan University is fully committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and research. The nominee must have a passion for research and teaching. Applicants should hold a PhD in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or a relevant discipline within the past few years. Ideally, the candidate would have experience applying data science and artificial intelligence in real-world settings. Applicants must provide information about their work experience, qualifications, research interests and achievements, as well as a publication statement.

Appointment

The terms of engagement will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuities, and travel and baggage fees for those eligible. Appointments will normally be made on a contractual basis for a maximum of three years. The postdoctoral fellow with a good publication record can carry a functional title of assistant research professor.
