BMS Educational Trust Establishes Department of Machine Learning and CoE in AI and ML at BMSCE Campus
bangalore : BMS College of Engineering (BMCSE) and BMS Institute of Technology and Management (BMSIT&M), run by BMS Educational Trust, one of the top-ranked engineering schools in Karnataka, has set up its first department of machine learning and Karnataka. first BS Narayan Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The center was inaugurated in the presence of the chief guest – Dr Devesh Vatsa, Air Vice Marshal, Medal Winner Vishishta SEVA, Commander, Software Development Institute, Indian Air Force, Bengaluru, Chaired by Sri Aviram Sharma, Chairman, BMSIT&M and Trustee, BMSET Guest of Honor – Prof. S Sadagopan, President BoG, IIITDM – Kancheepuram & Prof. Pradip K Das, Professor, Dept of CSE, IIT Guwahati, Assam, as well as dignitaries including Dr BS Ragini Narayan, Donor Trustee & Member Secretary, BMS Educational Trust, Dr P Dayananda Pai, President, BMSCE and Lifetime Trustee, BMS Educational Trust, Sri Gautham V Kalathur, Technical Director, BMSET.
The machine learning department, BMSCE, set to be the youngest branch of the engineering school over 75 years old, will focus on teaching and research in the areas of deep learning, data mining, big data and natural language processing. This self-contained department includes all the necessary facilities that every student needs, including state-of-the-art well-furnished and ventilated classrooms, centrally air-conditioned, equipped with SENSES smart boards with all educational software.
The BS Narayan Center of Excellence (CoE) in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning established by BMSET with an investment of INR 2.5 cr will provide platform incubation and entrepreneurship support based on AI and foster a dynamic industry-academia synergy for AI adoption and impactful projects. with industry and government. The CoE will have an independent NVIDIA DGX A100 server, the first in an engineering school in Karnataka. The NVIDIA DGX A100 server is the world’s first system purpose-built for deep learning and accelerated analytics that can deliver performance of 56 instances in parallel without any degradation. It is configured with fully integrated hardware, deep learning software and development tools. With third-generation NVIDIA Tensor cores that deliver a huge performance boost, this A100 GPU can efficiently scale up to thousands or, with the multi-instance GPU, be allocated into seven smaller dedicated instances to accelerate workloads of all sizes.
The Department of Machine Learning, BMSCE also launched the Dept. Students’ Club & ACM Students’ Chapter, an initiative to unite the BMSCE IT fraternity under one platform.
Applicants with a 2nd PUC/12th Std/Diploma or equivalent examination and an appropriate ranking in the KCET/COMEDK/DCET competitive examination rankings are eligible for admission into the Machine Learning Department of BMSCE.
Delighted with the establishment of the Department and CoE on AI and ML, Sri Aviram Sharma, Chairman of BMSIT&M & Trustee, said, “I am delighted that at BMSCE we have successfully established the Department of Machine Learning and the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence. & Machine Learning which is the first of its kind in Karnataka. Undoubtedly, these two institutions will create an ecosystem for building a community of using digital data for better future applications, and helping students learn to use their knowledge to improve the data-driven world.
Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Devesh Vatsa, Air Vice Marshal, Vishishta SEVA Medal Winner, Commander, Software Development Institute, Indian Air Force, Bangalore, said, “It is hard to imagine our world without being guided and governed by data today. Whether it’s business, the economy, or our daily lives, data-driven decisions help us make or break our paths. With AI and ML playing an important role in all walks of life, setting up these departments with state-of-the-art technology infrastructure has laid the foundation needed to help students build successful careers in these fields. »
Teacher. S Sadagopan Chairman BoG, IIITDM – Kancheepuram said, “The Department of Machine Learning and CoE in AI and ML was established with the aim of building a successful and impactful career in artificial intelligence and machine learning for students. BMSET is always striving to provide quality education, scientifically augmented infrastructure and latest technologies that can enhance the learning process of students in a fruitful way. The placement of the NVDIA DGX A100 server in BMSCE’s AI and ML Center of Excellence will help provide in-depth training and implementation of machine learning algorithms, which will encourage students to research in the fields of deep learning, data mining and big data. and natural language processing – essential skills today for students in this competitive world. This is just the first step, and I’m sure they will have many more of these specialized programs implemented at their facility in the future. »
Teacher. Pradip K Das, Department of CSE, IIT Guwahati, Assam Said: “Today, the need of the hour is the appropriate use of the multitude of data available around us. And to do this, it is important to be properly trained in artificial intelligence and machine learning, supported by the latest technologies in workspaces and laboratories, and by the experts involved. With the establishment of the Machine Learning Department at BMSCE and the CoE in AI and ML by BMSET, the process has been started and there is a long way to go to ensure that students learn how to use data to build a future. safer and better for all of us.
